It’s Our 15th Season!
The 2012 Nature Coast Civil War Reenactment will be held once again on the property of the Holcim Mine, 7 miles north of Crystal River (just south of the Barge Canal bridge).
Important Notice: At Ocklawaha, an announcement was made that the Crystal River
Reenactment was not going to take place in 2012. We are pleased to announce that after much discussion and encouragement from the sutlers, the reenactors, and the field officers, Curtis Peters has agreed to continue with the event with General Hardy’s help; we
are under “new management”. We thank everyone for their continued support and look forward to another successful event.
There will be a full slate of activities each day, including a Ladies Tea at 10:30 in the steel barn on Saturday and culminating in a clash of troops each afternoon. Check the Schedule for further details.
On Sunday morning at 10:00, there will be a combined Confederate and Union church service in the steel barn . The service is also open to the public, as well.
For the reenactors, there is always plenty of water, hay, and elbow room. Be prepared to kick up your heels at the Soldiers’ Ball on Saturday night.
All reenactors will need to register via snail mail. There are sections for Cavalry and Artillery on the registration form as well. Please make sure to view the Camping and Battlefield Rules page before arriving on site.
Friday, March 9th will be our annual Education Day for the local schools. There will be 10 minute stations set up around the field–small groups of students will rotate between the stations. If any reenactor would care to participate, either presenting a station or leading a group, it would be most appreciated. Visit the Education Day area of our website for more information.
