The Nature Coast Civil War Reenactment Committee is sponsoring two separate $500 Scholarships, one open to any senior in a Citrus County high school, and one available to any high school senior, who is also a Civil War reenactor and has participated in the Crystal River reenactment within the last 5 years. Applicants for the reenactor scholarship may be from any high school.
Requirements and Guidelines
- Be a Senior in High School. For the local Scholarship, you must also be a Citrus County Resident
- Fill out the application completely
- Have parent/guardian complete and sign the endorsement letter
- Complete the volunteer and community service summary sheet
- Attach at least three letters of reference from non-relatives (teacher, pastor, employer, etc)
- Write an essay (minimum 500 words) on the topic, "What impact did the War Between the States have on life in America today?"
- Submit all the completed paperwork by February 1st and mail to: NCCWRC-Scholarship, P.O. Box 640012 Beverly Hills, FL 34464
- Winners and immediate family members will be given free passes to attend the Crystal River Annual Civil War Reenactment, usually held in March.
- Each winner will be awarded a $500.00 scholarship on Saturday, prior to the battle, and agrees to allow his or her picture to be taken for publicity purposes. (Award can be made at a later date if attendance at the reenactment is not possible. Every effort to attend will be expected)
