2010 Live Fire Competition
From 9:00 to Noon on Sunday, we will once again present the Nature Coast Civil War Reenactment live-fire
rifle competition. The coordinator of this event is Ray Smutko who has been a
member and active participant in the North-South Skirmish Association for a very
long time.
Only reenactors over 16 who are members of a reenactment unit will be
eligible to participate. To insure
safety and consistency, we will provide NSSA approved and sighted weapons as
well as powder and ammunition. These weapons will consist of Zouave and
Mississippi 2-band rifles. The targets will be standard NSSA competition paper
targets.
Live-fire Rules
- 1.10 minute relays, 5 shots for score and no sighters
- 2. Cost: $5.00 per Relay
- 3. All competitors must sign up at the registration tent and report at the
assigned time. There will be no refunds for missing your relay.
(Walk-up shooters will be allowed only if space permits!) - 4. No Smoking in the range area.
- 5. Only competitors will be allowed in front of the ready line.
- 6. Only Nature Coast Reenactment muskets may be used.
- 7. Only Nature Coast Reenactment Staff will be permitted down range.
- 8. Do not remove ammo from range area.
- 9. Do not leave the firing line until a safety officer has cleared you. Competitors will fire 2 caps down range prior to loading and 2 more caps down range with safety officer present upon completing their course of fire prior to being cleared from the firing line.
- 10. Follow all directions of safety and range officers. (All safety rules will be strictly enforced)
- Decisions of the Range Officer are FINAL!
- 11. Prizes will be awarded prior to the battle on Sunday.
